| This 18 credit program
consists of courses designed to provide teachers with multi-curricular
content and instructional strategies to facilitate their success as
elementary teachers. It addresses major content areas in the elementary
curriculum and gives teachers multiple perspectives on teaching students.
Those content areas include: Language Arts, Science, Technology, Math,
and Social Studies. Within each content area, the Components of an
Effective Lesson and Teacher Expectancies will be addressed, connecting
the disciplines and providing a balanced delivery of instruction. |

| This 18-credit program
is designed for K-5 classroom teachers and consists of the foundational
elements of literacy instruction. Key components include phonemic
awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.
Each component will be explored through research-based principles
of effective teaching and learning practices. Addition-ally, each
course will include The Components of an Effective Lesson and Teacher
Expectancies in order to deepen teachers’ content knowledge
in literacy. |

| This eighteen-credit program
consists of courses designed to provide teachers with the science
con-tent and instructional strategies to facilitate their success
as middle school science teachers. It addresses major topics in the
middle school curriculum and gives teachers multiple perspectives
on teaching students who take the corresponding course. Each course
includes modeling The Components of an Effective Lesson, Teacher Expectancies,
linking to high school and middle school science courses, connecting
to other disciplines, and practicing hands-on, inquiry-based activities,
interactive learning, and participation in a balanced delivery of
instruction. |

Science ASP includes all of the requirements and 16-credits of the
HSSCP and an additional two (2) of the three (3) credit options listed
below. These additional credits meet the requirements needed to attain
the Advanced Studies Certification from the Clark County School District. |

is comprised of five content courses, one application course, one
content literacy course, and one technology course. It addresses major
topics in the middle school curriculum and builds teacher content
knowledge while incorporating pedagogical material. Each course includes
modeling The Components of an Effective Lesson, Teacher Expectancies,
linkage to high school and middle school math courses, connections
to other disciplines, hands-on activities, interactive learning, and
participation in a balanced delivery of instruction. This program
is suited for both elementary and middle school teachers. |

content literacy course, and one math/science integration course.
It addresses major topics in the high school curriculum and gives
teachers multiple perspectives on teaching students who take the corresponding
courses, in addition to literacy in mathematics and connections to
science. Each course includes modeling The Components of an Effective
Lesson, Teacher Expectancies, linkage to high school and middle school
math courses, connections to other disciplines, hands-on activities,
interactive learning, and participation in a balanced delivery of
instruction. The sixteen credits identified with an asterisk (*) in
their title can apply towards a Master’s degree through UNLV. |

| This 18 credit program,
open to all teachers (K-12), is designed to introduce new and exciting
technologies to achieve higher level thinking skills and increase
student achievement. This program will allow teachers to increase
productivity, efficiency, and integrate technology into their curricula. |
